Self-written waveguides in photopolymerizable resins.
We study the optically induced growth and interaction of self-written waveguides in a photopolymerizable resin. We investigate experimentally how the interaction depends on the mutual coherence and the relative power of the input beams and suggest an improved analytical model that describes the growth of single waveguides and the main features of their interaction in photosensitive materials.

Numerical simulations show that channel waveguides can be self-written in photosensitive materials. As the waveguide evolves, its shape remains approximately constant, even though its depth and width change. We find an exact solution that describes this evolution, which we show to be self-similar. A wide variety of single-peaked beams form waveguides that converge to this solution.
متن کاملSelf-written Waveguides in Photosensitive Materials
We present an overview of the physics of self-written waveguides created in photosensitive optical materials, including the experimental observations and the corresponding theoretical models for describing the growth of both bright and dark self-written beams. We discuss in more details the properties of self-written waveguides created in photosensitive polymers, which have been discovered in t...

متن کاملLight-induced Self-written Waveguides for Large Core Optical Fiber Modules
A fabrication technique for producing lightinduced self-written (LISW) waveguides for large-core optical fibers is proposed. The proposed technique employs a photopolymerizable resin consisting of two kinds of photopolymerizable monomers that differ from each other in terms of both refractive index and polymerization mechanism. The core portion is formed by virtue of a self-trapping effect, in ...
